I have chosen Inglorious B****** as my 'personal favorite for opening titles as i felt they had a strong running theme that connected with the film, without giving too much away but still being able to expand creatively portraying the cast through the titles.
I think these titles are discrete as the names of the production companies and cast where blended with strong editing from images representing WW2.
The music is very simple and has an eastern European vibe to it, representing the location of the film, making it fitting.
The opening credit is given to the production in a 'war time theme'. This connects back to the plot of the film. It then moves on to the title of the film in bold black letters, making it much more obvious to the audience, compared to the name of the production company, which was in smaller, old fashioned font.
The cast and director are then introduced in the running theme of WW2. Tarantino (Director) is shown first, with his name and picture in a passport style. Following after him, the main characters Brad Pitt & Christopher Waltz.
These two extracts from the opening titles mirror themselves as neither show key information about the film, hold any information about the cast, or anything else important. However, it's there to continue the image for the audience about what imagery was like in that period of time, and draws the audience in to compare the newspapers then to now.
(Left) Is the first thing we see when the titles start, a torch light effect representing the darkness being opened up by light. That could possibly be connected to the searching in the darkness for the Jewish people in WW2, which is the opening scene in the film. Once the titles fade out, it ends with the light being engulfed in darkness. Very metaphorical, it then fades into the film.
-plz don't delete this again x
